The Story

Paradise Roasters was started in 2002 in order to pursue a passion for great, roasted-to-order coffee. Deborah and Robert's son Miguel is the head roaster and buyer of green coffee. Their other son, Aaron, manages the website, a critical component of any Internet-based retailer.

Passions

Paradise believes in great, fresh coffee. In that regard, their coffee is roasted-to-order and each bag is stamped with the roast date. Their coffees regularly win very high coffee ratings from coffee reviewers.

Roastmaster Miguel Meza seeks out small coffee farmers from around the world who produce the finest beans, then pays these farmers more than the Fair Trade price would bring them.

• Quotes

"We help our partners who produce in smaller numbers as they don't get the attention of the big distributors. Some of the very finest coffee in the world today comes from these small lots of coffee trees."

Roastmaster Miguel Meza, press release dated June 2007

"I think the Meza Family and Paradise Roasters are upcoming stars in the micro-roasting world. They seem to have an uncanny way of picking great coffees and then roasting to get the most out of them. Also, under the wing of Roastmaster R. Miguel Meza, a person he trained, right out of the box, made it to the finals of the U.S. Barista Championship this year, beating out over 40 others. That's quite an accomplishment."
